ABOUT ARTIST

Born in 1996, Francia YU Ching-yan lives and works in Hong Kong. She graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University, where she received her Bachelor Degree in 2018. She intends to explore introspection through impression painting. She focuses as well on mark making, which allows her to explore the ambiguous state of mind between consciousness and unconsciousness.

Francia’s works surrounded the impression of things happened in life. Rather than reality, she appreciates more the beauty and completeness of things in our mind. Her impression purifies reality, left with colors and strong emotions. She is obsessed with the autumnal and blazing light. While capturing the constantly changing impression, mark making is used to express the fear and anxiety from non-existence.
